Creating multi-faceted change along Detroit's Woodward Corridor

Through the Living Cities Integration Initiative, Detroit received $22 million in grants, commercial loans and catalyst funds to stabilize Midtown, North End, and New Center neighborhoods adjacent to the Woodward Corridor. The Catalyst Funds are flexible, low-cost loans provided at below-market rates to support charitable activity. Midtown Detroit, Inc. is the lead agency and is supported by several partners from the public and private sectors.  With this investment in Detroit, we committed to harnessing the power of public-private partnerships to revitalize Midtown, New Center, and North End neighborhoods, increase investment, attract new residents, and provide access to quality education/work opportunities. We achieve this through:

  • Strategic alignment and communication of existing initiatives, projects, and programs within the WCI geography.
  • Attracting and piloting new programs and resources to support comprehensive urban change.
  • Working with individual partners to leverage existing and future investments for a collective impact in the WCI geography.
  • Convening partners around ‘one table’ to address and solve complex social problems that improve the quality of life of residents.
  • Introducing permanent system level interventions affecting capital deployment, private sector investment, and access to education/ jobs.
